About Us

Prof.(Dr.) Sunil Kumar

You are our Guiding Light.
Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow.

“यथा ह्येकेन चक्रेण न रथस्य गतिर्भवेत् । एवं पुरुषकारेण विना दैवं न सिध्यति”
(As a chariot cart cannot move with one wheel, similarly, without hard work destiny does not bring fruit.)

The Sanskrit shloka beautifully captures the vision of Prof.(Dr.) Sunil Kumar, Founder, Lal Bahadur Shastri Group of Institutions. Who better than him could know the power of hard work. In 1982 when the seed of LBS Group was sown, probably nobody expected Prof. Kumar would turn into such a beautiful tree. And his belief was firmly rooted in his power to work hard to any extent with sincerity & commitment.

With quality as the core & excellence as the goal, the Group made continuous strides under his dynamic & visionary leadership. But, in this success journey, values & ethics were never given a backseat even if painful decisions had to be taken. That is what sets the LBS Group apart from the rest. This also is the underlying reason why Prof. Kumar was held in high esteem by the various parties in the Group’s external & internal environment– students, parents, faculty, contemporary institutions, PSUs, banks, private organisations, etc.

His approach towards his team can be summed up by the following shloka:

“आनुभवति हि मोओर्ध्नअ पअदपस्तेएव्रमुस्ह्नम् ष्हमयति परितअपम् च्ह्च्ह्हअययअ सम्स्ह्रितअनअम्”
(The tree bears the intense heat on its head while it lessens the heat for those who take shelter under it.)

Ever happy & smiling, he had the power to charge up the most dull employee. He could very quickly carry out the SWOT analysis of his employees & hand over responsibilities accordingly. For him mistake was not a crime but a lesson worth remembering but not repeating. Therefore, people would work without any stress, pressure or fear under his charismatic leadership.

Theory & practice need to go hand-in-hand. Students need to understand how far what they are learning in class can be related to practice. In order to facilitate this the students are regularly taken for plant visits to Coca Cola plant, Scooters India Ltd. plant, Parag plant, Eveready plant, etc.

LBSIMDS always believes in innovating the teaching pedagogy & thus from this session onwards we are introducing flipped classroom for the students. Flipped classroom concept is a new technique of teaching which is being practiced by very few premier institutes around the world & none in Lucknow. Flipped Learning is a pedagogical approach in which direct instruction moves from the group learning space to the individual learning space, and the resulting group space is transformed into a dynamic, interactive learning environment where the educator guides students as they apply concepts and engage creatively in the subject matter.
The rationale behind introduction of flipped classes is that as a result of students taking responsibility, interacting meaningfully with their faculty and peers, and getting and giving frequent feedback, they acquire a deeper understanding of the content and how to use it. The student role shifts from passive recipient to active constructor of knowledge.

“All work & no play make Jack a dull boy” is the saying in which we at LBSIMDS firmly believe in. Thus, we organize a variety of extra-curricular activities for the students because taking part in these activities provides an outlet for creativity and the possibility of moving outside ones comfort zone in an enjoyable and structured environment. Some research studies have shown a positive correlation between participation in co-curricular activities and high academic achievement. It helps students deal with both success and failure as well as develop discipline, leadership, resilience and social skills. Some of the extra-curricular activities organized by us include:

  • Regalia – The Mega inter – institute cultural extravaganza

It is the human resource that provides worth to other resources.

Why? Because if organizations are the machinery, then labour is the fuel! And an exceptional labour asset lays the foundation of a splendid firm. Therefore, the money spent on the respective resource always turns out to be a pivotal investment.

And hence, training and development of the employees provide the company with a good return on its investment. The company reaps a lot of benefits from the mentioned programmes.

Build the Aptitude of Resolving your Conflict with Others

Conflict often occurs when two or even a group of individuals have a stark or a slight difference in their opinions, beliefs or theories about a particular subject matter.

Negotiation is the method of addressing each individual's position about a subject matter and an attempt to arrive at a decent solution, the one that benefits both the parties.

Opposing interests is the nucleus factor of most of the conflicts. In this era of complexity and uncertainty, we encounter such conflicting situations, several times a day. At the present moment, the most potential causes of conflict are:

1. A fight over scarce resources and proper time management.

2. Doubtfulness over responsibility and authority.

3. A difference in perception, working tendencies, beliefs, communication complexities and personal disagreements.

4. An unclear interdependent relationship between individuals and groups.

Following is a list of the possible causes of conflict in the work area:

1. System of Compensation: We work in extreme intricate workplace circumstances. The contradictory and inconsistent incentive policies, for example, frame to be the principal cause of conflicting situations.

2. Differentiation: Individuals holding different positions in an organization, having distinct point of views, possessing contrasting grounds of personal and organizational goal attainment, fabricate to be critical yet unconscious elements of conflicting situations.

3. Equity versus Equality: The law of equity creates an environment where one gets rewarded as per his/ her relative contributions. Equality, on the other hand, is surrounded by a belief that everyone must receive the same/ similar outcomes. The whole scenario of the likewise circumstances, therefore, roots continuous tension.

We have a two-dimensional concept in the circumstances of conflict:

1. How important or trivial is it to satisfy our wants?

2. How important or insignificant is it to consider the requirements of the other individual?

The questions result in the following five modes of conflict resolution:

1. Competitive/ Distributive (Win-Lose) Bargaining:

Fulfilling your requirements is critical; satisfying the needs of other, isn't important to you.

2. Collaborative/ Integrative (Win-Win):

Satisfying both, yours as well as the needs of other is important. Re-framing the situation becomes the eventual solution. It creates a bigger space and room for everybody’s ideas.

3. Compromising:

The requirements of both the parties are moderately important. Satisfying both your needs or, fulfilling none of them forms the basis of coming onto an ultimate concluding determinant. A little bit of yours, a little bit of the other, that is how this resolution works!

4. Avoiding:

You are indifferent about satisfying either your or the other individual's needs. No action seems to be quite reasonable to both the parties.

5. Accommodating:

Give in, as the outcome of the subject doesn't matter to you, though, it holds a lot of significance to the other person.

Therefore, if you study about the different modes of conflict panacea, you too would able to find various ways to resolve your issues with others. And LBSIMDS, the Best MBA College in Lucknow, absolutely acknowledges the advantages of incorporating this topic in its management course.

Thus, learn the art of settling your conflicts with LalBahadurShastri Institute of Management and Development Studies.

Top Ten Business News of 2018

The year 2018 was quite an eventful year with respect to business. The chief news makers seem to be e-commerce & banking sectors. I have tried to pick ten most significant business news with respect to India from various sources (mentioned at the end).

1. Walmart acquires stake in Flipkart
The year saw the biggest e-commerce deal with the Walmart’s $16 billion (Rs 1.05 lakh crore) acquisition of Flipkart. Walmart Inc bought 77 per cent stake in Flipkart. It was Walmart’s biggest deal giving the US retailer access to Indian e-commerce market, estimated to grow to USD 200 billion within a decade.

Flipkart was individually in news because its co-founder Binny Bansal resigned as Group CEO following a probe into allegations of ‘serious personal misconduct’.

2. Indian startups shining
Around 1,000 deals were signed by Indian startups in 2018 with areas like e-commerce, fintech, sustainability and renewable energy, transportation and logistics, and more. Indian startups are estimated to have raised $38.3 billion in funding in 2018, behind only the US and China, a report by Yostartups quoted.

Flipkart's $16 billion deal with American retailer Walmart accounted for the biggest piece of the pie, followed by Swiggy raising about $1.3 billion over three deals, and OYO picking up $1 billion in 2018, the report said. Other big funding deals included those by Paytm Mall ($895 million), ReNew Power ($495 million), Byju's ($422 million) and Zomato ($410 million).

3. Change in FDI policy for e-com sector
The government announced changes to the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) policy for the ecommerce sector.  A new rule inserted in the policy bars any entity related to ecommerce platforms from selling on that site and imposes a limit on how much one vendor can sell on a particular portal. The policy also prohibits ecommerce platforms from giving any preferential treatment to any supplier. Cashbacks, exclusive sales, brand launches, preferential services or programmes such as Amazon Prime and Flipkart Plus could run into difficulties under the new dispensation that seeks to ensure that these platforms are truly impartial marketplaces.

4. TRAI’s new framework for broadcasters
In December 2018, The Supreme Court paved the way for the implementation of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India's (TRAI) new regulatory framework for broadcasting and cable services. This new tariff structure basically allows consumers to select and pay only for the channels they wish to view, and requires TV broadcasters to disclose the maximum retail price (MRP) of individual channels as well as that of bouquets.

5. Merger of Nationalised Banks
The government approved the merger of Dena Bank and Vijaya Bank with Bank of Baroda (BoB) to make it a globally competitive lender. With the merger, BoB will become the third largest bank after State Bank of India and ICICI Bank.

6. Patel resigns as RBI Governor
Urjit Patel resigned from his post as Reserve Bank governor on December 10, nearly a year before his term ended. Though Urjit Patel cited personal reasons behind his resignation, it is widely believed that differences over central bank’s capital policy framework  led to his resignation.

7. Banking Fraud
India’s biggest banking fraud came to light in February 2018 at a Mumbai branch of the Punjab National Bank. Nirav Modi and his uncle Mehul Choksi, the two renowned diamantaires, allegedly siphoned around Rs 14,000 crore from Punjab National Bank over a period of seven years.

8. Kochhar steps down
The year also witnessed the fall of Chanda Kochhar, India’s one of the most celebrated women bankers in the country, who resigned as CEO of  ICICI Bank in October. Chanda Kochar's resignation came after a whistle-blower accused her of unfairly granting loans to NuPower Renewables, a firm founded by her husband. Kochar’s 34-year-long association with ICICI bank came to an end amid questions of conflict of interest, lack of disclosures, and quid pro quo.

9. HUL to acquire GSK CH India
Unilever's Indian arm, Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) will acquire GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare Ltd (GSK CH India) via an all-equity merger, valuing the total business of the latter at Rs 31,700 crore.  GSK CH India is the market leader in the health food drinks (HFD) category, with popular brands such as Horlicks and Boost.

10. Jet Airways gasping for air
Jet Airways owed banks Rs 8,414 crore as of March 2018, according to its annual report. The airline, lost nearly 70 percent of its market value in 2018 as it faced a crippling cash crunch. Higher fuel prices and inability to increase fares in India’s competitive market led to three straight quarters of losses and forced it to delay salaries. The banks are now worried about these loans turning sour. The fact remains that Jet Airways is gasping for air. Jet has survived a near-death experience once before, in 2013, Abu Dhabi's Etihad Airways injected $600 million of capital for a 24 percent stake in the airline. The airline is in talks with Etihad a second time and with Indian conglomerate Tata Sons for fresh funds or a stake sale.

Changing Dynamics of Business Across the Globe Through Co-opetition as a Win-Win Tool for Market Share Creation and Retention

If you can’t beat them, join them.

Yes, this is the latest scenario of corporate globe where two black bugs eyeing for the same prey go ahead with co-opetition strategy to survive. Gone are the days when orthodox philosophies were used by organizations to beat the competition. Today, homogeneous products and services in the market with customers being the ultimate deciders have made organizations landed up in a perplex situation of how to survive and what to deliver in order to create its niche. Thus, the companies have started to adopt this strategy in order to gain more market share by assessing the advantages that competitors have, niche skills that we have  joining our forces and working together. As the business environment is becoming more dynamic and highly innovative, this forces enterprises to be more involved in multi-firm alliances (Lavie, Lechner, & Singh, 2007). At the same time the enterprises try to develop various portfolios of relationships in order to become successful and profitable (Bengtsson & Johansson, 2012; Hoffmann, 2007).  The endmost aim of co-opetition is that contender organizations should pool their knowledge and skills in order to co-survive, co-grow, co-innovate, magnify their ecosystem and create value. “Co-opetition is a business term for “cooperative competition” whereby competitors share costs and work together on parts of their businesses in which they do not compete” (Combs & Davis, 2010). “Co-opetition describes how organisations cooperate with business stakeholders in order to pursue profits” (Luo, 2004).

According to Robert Keane , “Co-opetition - working with competitors on shared projects where they share common goals - can reduce waste and duplication, expand market access, enhance the impact of shared technologies, promote synergies and enable smart specialization.”

There are big examples of successful coopetion strategies in various sectors:

1. Just have a look at co-opetition in aviation, the way airlines alliances work. Earlier connecting flights or finding a flight that suited a traveler’s requirements was not an easy task. International passengers often had to make multiple reservations individually, rendering the situation irritating at its best. The first one to try and solve that was Pan American-Grace Airways. It formed the first airline alliance in the 1930’s with Pan American World Airways and began a co-opetition to exchange routes between North and Latin America. As the competition in the airline industry continues to rise, co-opetition between airlines will become more than an added benefit, but a necessity in order for airlines to survive. Airline alliances such as OneWorld and Star Alliance mean sharing costs of ticketing, marketing and logistics.

2. Coming to supply chain area, co-opetition as a strategy has been successful within the logistical function of the Irish fresh fruit and vegetable industry as an instrumental method to reduce transport costs and improve efficiency, as well as demand forecasting techniques, storage costs and the potential for new local and international business opportunities. “Effective management of fresh food supply chains is particularly challenging due to the highly perishable nature of the product involved in the process.” (Dabbene, 2008).

3. The technology industry presents many examples of co-opetition, in part due to the heavy investment required to constantly innovate, and it continues to be a smart and aggressive strategy. Two big master houses in the IT sector- Microsoft and Apple. These two are famously known for being savage competitors, and have each benefitted from their rival’s capabilities. The iPod and iTunes originally only worked with Macs, but the portable music player’s mass appeal and success came from Apple launching iTunes for Windows, opening it up to the significantly broader market of PC users. Microsoft Word and Excel first succeeded on the Mac and only later went on to beat WordPerfect and Lotus 123 in the Windows environment.

4. Co-opetition isn’t restricted to technology firms. Lets have a look at the automobile manufacturers who share resources and technology but compete for customers on branding and design. The tie-up between PSA Peugeot Citroën and Toyota being a paramount example.

5. Successful co-opetition strategies are not found in foreign MNCs, but in India as well. Indian two-wheeler motor cycle company ‘Hero’ tied up with Japanese ‘Honda’ to set an example as one of the most successful joint ventures worldwide.

6. Moving towards complementary advantages that start-ups can explore. Every smart startup starts with a focus on a distictive advantage, such as owning a distribution channel. A competitor may have complementary strengths. Here, a partnership, sharing common benefits, might be a growth opportunity by expanding the market for both the companies.

7. In today’s era, most of the big giants, such as IBM and Merck, hardly develop new products internally. They invest in complementary startups, through internal venture funds and partnerships, and plan to acquire the best as they show the right traction.

8. Co-opetition strategy can further be implemented in academics as well. In practicality, management and commerce students can use co-opetition in their studies as different students belonging to heterogeneous spheres of specialization like finance, IT, marketing, retail, and international business can pool their knowledge and expertise in handling internship projects and expanding their area of information.

Co-opetition, the simultaneous pursuit of cooperation and competition, is a growing force in the innovation landscape. For some organizations, the primary mode of innovation continues to be deeply secretive and highly competitive, but for others, a new style of shared challenges, shared purpose, and shared development has become a superior, more efficient way of working to accelerate innovation capabilities and capacity. It is evident that increasing the size of the market or creating a new one, ensuring compatibility and interoperability, risk and cost sharing, efficiency in resource utilization, integration of supplementary resources and improvement in the firm's competitive position are certain targets for companies which adopt co-opetition as a major strategic took. Also over the last two decades, the literature base devoted to co-opetition has gradually expanded which gives a relevant academic back-up to researchers.

I personally feel “United we stand, divided we fall” theory can be mixed with “Let’s have a healthy fight” to explore more opportunities.

Apple After Jobs

Apple lost its visionary founder Steve Jobs in 2011. Even after 7 years of his death, the question that looms in everyone’s mind from shareholders, to competitors, to employees & of course customers is that will Apple under Tim Cook be able to sustain its position as a market leader.

"We started out to get a computer in the hands of everyday people, and we succeeded beyond our wildest dreams." ~ Steve Jobs

It is common knowledge that Apple was co-founded in 1976 by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. Many regard Jobs as the Father of “The PC Revolution”. In 1985, Apple began to struggle after its board ousted Steve Jobs from the company. After about 10 years of declining sales creating conditions of bankruptcy, Apple desperately turned to its visionary founder for help, and a little older and wiser Jobs returned back in 1997 and designed one of the most amazing turnarounds of the 20th century. Jobs led Apple to a spectacular recovery, introducing the iPod in 2001, the iPhone in 2007, and the iPad in 2010.

When Jobs came on board, Apple was still very much a niche computer platform. Windows-based PCs ruled the market, with the higher-priced Apple computers primarily being used by the specialists in industries like advertising, design and motion pictures. When Apple launched the iPhone in 2007, it became a breakthrough product which not only catapulted Apple to becoming  a major player but also a company everyone was trying to emulate. Overnight, the iPhone reinvented cell phone technology, and it was yet another humongous victory for Steve Jobs after the iPod.

Apple's success is due in large part to its obsessive focus on the user experience. Apple is a designer-centric company that likes to build all parts of a product — hardware, software, and online services — itself. That approach has allowed Apple to build some of the most elegant and user-friendly products ever created.

Steve Jobs died of pancreatic cancer in 2011. Tim Cook was appointed as the CEO of Apple on August 24, 2011. Before he died, Jobs warned Cook against trying to run Apple by asking how Jobs would have handled each decision. "Just do what’s right," Jobs said.

Apple under Jobs was a product-driven company with excellent marketing. Apple under Cook has become a marketing-driven company with mediocre products. Marketing experts say that “Instead of delivering highly innovative products that the customers did not even think of in the wildest of their imagination, Apple now dabbles with past successes and exploits them for as long as possible”. Apple’s products post Jobs have primarily undergone upgrades rather than the introduction of any new product designs.

The brilliance of Jobs was when he introduced a product, it wasn't always the first of its kind — but it was always better. As a result, Apple could and did command a premium which customers were willing to pay more than willingly for the product's superiority. In fact, customers would eagerly wait for Jobs to come up with new products & many would queue up to buy them irrespective of the price because they were sure that Apple would be first to drive improvements that would be definitely far ahead of the competition.

Under the leadership of Steve Jobs, Apple had 14 products but now Apple has 27 products with more than 200 variety of different versions. He moved away from Steve Jobs minimalist strategy and reached amazing growth of Apple by doubling the products. But it's true that there are only a few innovative products that have been launched during the 6 years tenure of Tim Cook. Job’s minimalistic strategy ensured that Apple's products, business, and marketing all aligned with this idea.

To be fair to Cook, it is extremely difficult, if not impossible to outshine your predecessor especially if he happens to be a revolutionary & dynamic man like Steve Jobs. It is good that Cook has charted his own course as Jobs had advised him because he couldn’t have thought like Jobs as there was only one Jobs like there is only one Cook. He needed to think & strategize on his own, which he did & is doing but it is also imperative for him to ensure that Apple does not slip down from the place where Jobs had placed it.

All in all, Apple has indeed seen a decrease in momentum since the loss of their founder and chief creative visionary. Despite this, their popularity has only increased. The challenge before Cook is how to sustain the Apple brand that Jobs built and demand premium pricing when better or comparable products are available from the competition for less. The big question today is, will Apple ever bring to market a product that was as revolutionary as the iPhone, iPod, or iPad? What is worth noting here is that in all of those instances, products having similar functions already existed in the market. What Apple and Steve did was to add features which the customers wished for & in many cases had not even thought of. The constraint is that unlike in 1997, this time Apple does not have a safe bet called Jobs to fall back upon.

6 Business ideas to inspire the entrepreneur inside you

It's anything but difficult to concoct a business thought that seems to be quotidian at the moment, considering the tough commercial market scene elements it has to compete with. How-so-ever creating a significant brand takes valour and persistence. You would prefer not to be simply one more independent company with nothing special to offer. You could rather ask yourself what's absent from your very own life – what is an issue that is influencing you or your friends and your family? "I Do Now I Don't" began after its organizer encountered a fizzled commitment and took a stab at offering the $10,000 ring back to his gem specialist, who just offered $3,500 in return. It's currently a web-based business webpage that moves previously owned frills and adornments between suppliers and patrons of the same. Normally, the organization renders the vendor more cash and offers the purchaser a lower cost than a gems store. Thus,by acting as the go-between and apportioning itself with particular yields from the specific parties, the company has proved itself to be quite successful..

2. Convenience goes to the next level:

It's nothing unexpected that following a night of drinking, many people would prefer not to rise right on time to clean their home. This is the exact situationwhen 'Hangover Helpers' step in. This organization does not just deal with your post-party tumult, however, they additionally give breakfast (with your decision of "oil" or "green") to guarantee you're feeling your best – without the additional clutters.

3. Save the environment:

Customers are progressively worried about how many assets are squandered in the sustenance bundling process. Regularly, cardboard, plastic and Styrofoam are not reused, prompting natural waste. 'Package Free Shop', a zero-squander spring up shop in NYC, has an exceptional arrangement. It offers helpful and basic choices to single-utilize plastic items. Since its inception, the organization has evaluated that it has kept 597,640 plastic straws, 851,950 plastic packs and 490,856 non-recyclable glasses out of landfills.

4. It’s time for some ‘Free-Lunch’ Marketing:

Manhattan's 'Lunchspread' takes everybody's affection by providing complimentary nourishment in the workplace as well as by including a virtuoso promoting technique for nearby eateries. This organization helps new and under-the-radar eateries develop their client base by coordinating organizations in the zone to the food they're probably going to relish and deliver gratis samples appropriate to the respective organizations' entryways. After the specimens are conveyed, the recipient batch fills out a review form about the food. The 'Lunchspread' then plans for another unexpected food sample conveyance to the same group. Every food sample dispatched is accompanied by coupons and a card loaded with insights regarding the specific restaurant and cafe. That way, you can become familiar with where your nourishment originated from and reorder from the eatery on the off chance that you and your representatives appreciated the dinner.

5. Co-Working Spaces:

Innovation consistently has always proven to be more feasible for labour representatives and business people. This rule applies to those as well who want to carry out their responsibilities and maintain their organizations from anyplace. Co-Working workrooms is a concept that isformulated for thefirms who do not really possess the resources to invest in acquiring their own office space. 'WeWork' provides work studios to the office-less people, with adaptable, month-to-month enrollment alternatives for individual consultants and huge organizations. Consultants who want to work elsewhere rather than their homes can have a more solid workspace than a neighbourhood bistro, and organizations and different groups can have a place to team up and hold gatherings and occasions.

6. Fancy and portable toilets:

A few occasions, the normal green and cramped compact latrine just won't do. 'ElizaJ' leases amazing, spotless and alluring versatile bathrooms for any open air occasion – ideal for facilitating something somewhat more formal. Every one of ElizaJ's individual bathrooms incorporates new blossoms, originator cleansers and creams, name-mark paper items, wicker squander bins, deodorizers, and fresh water. One of the choices, The Powder Room, can suit occasions of up to 350 individuals and is intended to equal bathrooms found in the best brasseries and retail establishments. ElizaJ has likewise propelled a diversifying model to offer different business visionaries who could utilize a chance to run their own convenient bathroom activities.

Always remember that "Need is the mother of Invention", so pick the right spot and hit the target.

Attitude Virus - A Threat To Organisations

Attitude plays a prominent role in everyone’s life. Depending on the situation & time, the attitude of a person gets changed. Two things define everyone “patience when we have nothing” and “attitude when we have everything”.

Attitude virus is everywhere & carries throughout life. This virus can be easily identified in one’s behavioral aspects: the way one’s speak, react & respond. In most of the organizations, whether it is a small organization or big organization due to attitude problems most of the people shift from one organization to the other organization.

Symptoms of a negative attitude are like disagreement with colleagues for silly reasons, always try to interrupt in the middle of the discussion, carelessness in following policies of an organization and many more.

Sometimes in the corporate world, it is very difficult to handle the situations, which lead conflicts among the co-workers due to attitude problems. So how an organization can deal with attitude virus? For the solution of this problem organizations need to bring more focus on few specific areas like first of all assessment, Top level management has to assess any attitude problem in the organization among the employees at all levels. This requires honest monitoring at all levels like employees, vendors, suppliers, and customers. Next is the examination, Select the right managers who have skills & potential to identify human psychology. Managers have to take motivational sessions to such employees who are having the wrong attitude. Managers also should appoint subordinates who can scrutinize people behavior within the organization. Next area in the process of solution is occupational therapy, it’s time for the managers to take the additional responsibilities of the employees & to guide them in a proper way. Continuous motivational sessions are required so that the employees can come out of the negative attitude. Counselling is also a very helpful way to get rid of bad attitude. Managers can call motivational speakers and counsellors from within the organization as well as from outside the organization. Also conducting a step by step program/course for a positive attitude will be helpful.  At the last monitor & feedback, once the training sessions are done it’s better to get the feedback from the employees. Later on monitoring has to be in place to note the behavior of employees, whether the training sessions are really helpful for them or not. Also looking for what conditions, outcome, and attitude can improve the situation will help to maintain decorum in an organization and keep the attitude problems aside.

Finally, I would like to conclude that in a professional workplace setting, bad attitude can affect everyone and cause conflict among employees. In some cases, attitude problems are able to be ignored by the majority of employees, and a productive employee with a slight attitude problem is not a distraction. A manager needs to learn how to identify escalating attitude problems in the workplace to prevent them from becoming a distraction.

Manage Your Decisions With The Top Management College

Management is all about taking the right decisions about a predicament at the stroke of the most appropriate hand of time that could eventually lead to the most effective result.

Therefore, management and decision-making go hand in hand.

A good manager is known for the stark decisions he makes. Decisions that are taken well on time that hit the nail at the right stroke. The better the judgment on situations, the better the managerial stratagem.

And LalBahadurShastri Institute of Management and Development Studies is counted amongst the Top Management Colleges in Lucknow for the same reason. The respective Institute provides its pupils with an outstanding Management Development Program in Lucknow, the one that teaches them the most appropriate Decision-Making style according to their personality as well as their path of career.

So, do you too want to impart yourself with the knowledge of the different types of Decision-Making?

Following is a list of the same_the 7 sorts of Decision-Making:

1.  Programmed and Non-Programmed Decisions:
The Programmed Decisions are ordinarily covered under the policies, whether written or unwritten. These decisions are tacit and customary to the workforce of the organization. Alternate options are not even given a second thought at the time of Programmed Decision Making. The reoccurring muddles: the complex or the uncomplicated ones are worked upon as per the conventional line of action.

An advantage of this sort of decision-making style is that they do not fetch a great hand of time.

on-Programmed Decisions are taken regarding queer issues. Distinctive conduct is observed while the specific difficulties are resolved.

2. Routine and Strategic Decisions:
Strategic Decisions are taken by the Higher Management Level, while the Routine Decisions are concluded upon by the Middle Management Level.
Strategic Decisions are in regards to the functioning of the organization. They are taken composedly. A meticulous analysis is a must while making judgements about the same, as a single blunder could lead to the liquidation of the company.  The specific decision-making style involves the investment of a  tremendous amount of funds and inflated risks.

Routine Decisions are taken on a day-to-day basis. The assessment of the situations can be taken momentarily. An omission in the judgement would not create a deep hole in the pockets of the firm.

3. Major and Minor Decisions:
A discernment about the purchase of fixed assets such as an office space would be considered to be a Major Decision. Minor Decisions are taken in regards to, for example, the purchase of stationery supplies.

4. Individual and Group Decisions:
Group Decisions are taken by individuals who hold the authority and capacity to conclude upon collective judgements in regards to the benefit of the company.
Individual Decisions are taken for the personal interests of the employee. It might be in concern to the salary hike of the particular being or even the acting upon as per the ethics of the work area.

5. Long-Term Departmental and Non-Economic Decisions:
As the name suggests, both these decision-making styles are based on judgments regarding a department of an organization and attributes such as moral behaviour, technical knowledge, et cetera, respectively.
The departmental decisions require time and involve the possibilities of riskiness as well. These particular decisions are taken by the specific Head of the Department.

6. Policy and Operative Decisions:
The fundamental difference between Policy and Operative Decision-Making is that the former one is taken by the Top Management Level while the latter one is taken by the Middle and Lower Management Level. Policy Decisions mould and amend the strategies, the guidelines of the organization. Operative Decisions are concluded upon daily.

7. Organizational and Personal Decisions:
One of the attributes of a company is its Perpetual Existence. And Organizational Decisions relate to the same characteristic. These decisions are taken by Company Officers. A company observes many of the transfigures in relation to its workforce. Therefore, the decision regarding a firm can be delegated to the concerned authority, not a specific individual.

Personal Decisions, on the other hand, are taken on the basic foundation of self-interest. The decisions about our welfare cannot be delegated to someone else.
Thus, all this being a brief portion of the theoretical part, you can comprehend the concept practically and exceptionally as well, only when you graduate from a good MBA College. LBSIMDS, the Best MBA College in Lucknow can help you to achieve so. So enrol now!

We all have motives in life. And isn't that the actual reason for our existence?

Our motives 'motivate' us to achieve the imperative intentions and the desired targets of our living.

The accomplishments of the set objectives propel us. Propel us to do more. Motivation through rewards persuades us, all the more, to perform better. For a better understanding of the complex human behaviour, Psychologists had/ have and still are developing different theories of Motivation. An assorted collection of research studies regarding the same has indeed observed a place in the Training and Development Programs of Organizations, the Academic Curriculum of Education Institutes and amongst the books of Public and, not to forget, the Corporate Sector Libraries.

Psychologist Abraham Maslow in the year 1943, proposed a model. A model that stated the Five Levels of Inducement, now, better known as the delineation of 'HIERARCHY OF NEEDS'.

The Top Management Colleges set to seal a course on 'Consumer Behaviour' in their education syllabus. And LalBahadurShastri Institute of Management and Development Studies, bracketed under the same lists of premier colleges, offers its pupils with the Best Management Development Program in Lucknow. The Best MBA College in Lucknow, nonetheless, sews the Maslow's Theory of Motivation in its management curriculum.

Now, we must know, the reason why a 76-year-old theory is till date holding a status of extreme importance to the people around the world. So, what is the Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs?

The fundamental need of any human being is the Physiological one. This specific need, in actual, comprises of all our necessities. It is about how an individual could sustain the dynamism of the environment. Food, Water, Shelter are a few examples of Physiological Need. This need is for the survival of human beings and, therefore, is considered to be of utmost importance.

The accomplishment of the preceding need makes an individual urge for the fulfillment of Safety and Security Need. Job Stability, Health, Law and Order are few of the many examples of this particular need. The fruition of the need helps a person stay and feel guarded against any tangible or intangible threat.

With a bold tick mark on the blocks of prior needs, a human being desires a sense of Belongingness. Social Needs, thus, launch the gears at the highest speed on the highway of life. Affection, Love, Intimacy all comprise to be the elements of this very need. Relationship Building becomes the essence of life.

We all long for getting recognition for our work. And the fourth and an exceedingly important essential, the Esteem Needs, help in the actualization of the same. Self-Worth, Self-Confidence, Status, Respect all count for one's existence. And this particular need tracks down whether an individual can make his/ her life worth living for 'his/ herself'.

Self-Actualization Need highlights the essence of a person's subsistence. An individual could recognize the reason behind his living and realize his/ her fullest potential. The person not only works for him/ herself but also for the society as a whole. The contentment derived from the fulfillment of this specific need is supremely satisfying.

So, do you think you could conquer upon all the needs of 'Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs'?

Well, you can if you learn to take a lesson of the particular theory from an Outstanding Institute. And you can do so by enrolling yourself in any of the Top Management Colleges of the Country. LBSIMDS is most definitely one of them!

So, at first, you get your invites printed (or even written). Subsequently, you think of providing your customers with some discount coupons as well. Thus, you get the coupons stamped under the brand name of your company too.
Loss! Loss! Loss!

A lot of the company's hard-earned money gets drained into the stream of humongous loss. Instead, a newsletter invite sent via the official Email ID of the company to all the subscribers could have saved the company heaps of money. There would have been nil paper, mailing and stamp costs. That’s the reason why technical communication tends to be economically more fruitful.

2.    Technical Communication Saves Time:
Continuing with the example mentioned earlier, imagine the hand of time you would have invested in sending the letters and getting an rsvp from your customers.
Now, if you had to deliver a message to various lines of work departments regarding any modifications in the company rule, supposedly, verbally or even in writing, you would have been obliged to take specific time to conduct the same procedure. However, a validated statement and notification regarding any change in the rules on the official email IDs and personal contact numbers of the employees or management respectively could have saved the company a lot of time.

3.    Technical Communication aids in the process of Accurate Data Documentation:
You would have desired your staff to be technically, quite, proficient! Your employees could, therefore, have been able to follow a particular course of action and deliver their work efficiently. Technically communicated messages certainly have a backup. There aren’t many probabilities of dual work or error issues. As a matter of fact, your clients are delivered with prompt responses and solutions as well. That's like one on one discount offer!

For example, if you work in a bank, and you train your staff about all the technical skills required to record data about the clients, their accounts, deposits and their withdrawals, basically all their details, there wouldn't have been any possibility of a loss of track records about anyone or regarding anything.

4.    Technical Communication builds healthy Staff-Client/ Customer Relationship:
The more manageable, your technical equipment and interfaces, would make the lives effortless for your customers and clients, the more would your company be preferred, over the rest of the companies of your trade.

If a bank has a user-friendly ATM or a Money Depositing Machine, the customers would have been happier and satisfied with the ease in their transactions. The staff too would have been, burdened with less of work.

A convenient web portal of a company or brand help leads and customers to be able to search for brand information, product or service details, the working of the technical articles without any difficulty. The virtual assistants are the state-of-the-art tech-communication elements that enable finding solutions to problems all the more plain sailing.

And therefore, this is how Technical Communication supports the smooth functioning of an organization.

Though, here is a revision of the same. Following are a few points that can help you manage stress during COVID-19 Lockdowns:

Now, we all know, lockdowns have compelled us to evaporate our habit of working on time. As there is no schedule of attending lectures, meeting assignment deadlines, we have somewhere forgotten the need to be working according to a set timetable.

Though, that should not be the case. As mentioned in the previous article, it is a must for you to spend your time wisely. Proper time management is one of the most effective stress-relieving habits. Therefore, delineate and stick to a timetable. Also, try to sustain attainable time slots. Relaxation is equally as important as studying. Therefore, take satisfactory breaks and keep yourself engrossed in doing something fruitful as well as enjoyable.

(II) EXERCISE:It is a proven fact. Ordinarily, the stress level is lower amongst individuals who maintain a healthy routine. Therefore, you must exercise. Maybe it is through exercise, that we smash and get the negative energies, flow out of our systems. Not to forget, a fit body can help you look more attractive and confident about yourself. All in all, exercise warrants to be a wondrous mood-buster. Our last article HOW CAN STUDENTS STAY CALM AMID COVID-19 PANDEMIC? too focused on this pleasurable activity!

Many individuals are unaware of water therapy. You can relax your body by drinking lots of water. Several kinds of research have revealed that dehydration leads to higher cortisol levels (the stress hormone), making it harder for humans to even deal with everyday issues. A hot water bath is also a rescuer! Stress causes the muscles of the body to contract. A hot water bath can relieve those symptoms and keep the muscles loose.

Therefore, students, you must utilize the

benefits of water therapy!

A notably common and well-known fact, but not utilized as often as it should have been! An entertaining activity itself, listening to music has miraculous psychological benefits. It does not solely boost your mood but improves your memory and cognitive abilities. Though, you must listen to slow and soul-soothing music. Classical and meditation music offer exceptional mood-boosting benefits, while heavy metal and techno music are stated to be ineffective, during stress-relieving times.

Having been stated repetitively, you must ensure to endure your calming hobbies. Hobbies that we love tend to cheer our mood and distract ourselves from stressors. So, whether it is painting, cooking or even sleeping, you must most definitely pursue your tranquillizing activity.

Easier said than done. Yes, we know! It is quite a challenge. But if you keep focusing on the negative aspects of the crisis, you will be burdened by a lot of mental stress. Therefore, you must reprogram yourself and your process of perceiving situations. Use positive affirmations regularly. This act can, gradually, channelize your optimistic thinking as an element of your unconsciousness.

You need to sleep for at least 8 hours a night. You must, if required, take power naps in the afternoon as well. Stress and anxiety shall not force you to toss yourself throughout the lap of night. Therefore, ensure to work out and feel a little exhausted. A little fatigue can cause you to fall asleep, without having to turn with grief, worry, or difficult emotions during the night.

Whereas, General MBA provides broad knowledge for the different domains of management, so as to equip the candidates for different industries and different job profiles.

  • Opportunities:

In the specialized MBA course, candidates are trained in such a way that they can become experts for the specific industry or domain. Due to which job opportunities are limited for them. In contrast, the General MBA from one of the best MBA colleges makes candidates corporate-ready that they have the ability to gain all kinds of opportunities.

  • Capacity to Switch:

Specialised MBA limits the capacity of MBA candidates. The General MBA degree trains students in such a manner that they can be fit for almost all industries. With elective choices, General MBA has the flexibility to fulfill the requirements of multiple industries and, hence, it becomes the great choice to satisfy the student's requirement.

  • Prior Experience:

Specialised MBA is best suited to the candidates who have prior experience or exposure of the industry or domain for which they are planning to pursue Specialised MBA course. A common question which comes up in the mind of a BA graduate looking forward to making a successful career in Business Administration is “Can I do MBA after B.A.?”Certainly, yes! MBA can be pursued after Arts, Commerce or Science stream. MBA is one of the choicest professional master degrees which is 2 years long in duration. The course path on its own may sound unique, but it is essential for arts graduates who have a knack for business management. MBA after BA is necessary for arts graduates who are focused on entrepreneurship and business administration. This article provides answers on why MBA after BA can be a worthy option.

MBA after BA may seem unique as both don't have any subjects in common. The switch is a monumental one, but it is not as complicated as it looks to be. MBA after BA may be an unexplored and a new option, but it certainly opens up new opportunities and scopes in the job market. And for most times, it ends up being a better-paying option than other scopes. For the graduates, who have a passion for marketing, sales, human resources, and business administration, this is the course that can suffice them with the required knowledge. Graduates interested in venturing into entrepreneurship post their arts degree can also take up an MBA. MBA allows artistic professionals to get a hold of fundamental business administration skills to explore new horizons.

Reasons for MBA after B.A.

Firstly, if you are pursuing BA or have completed your graduation in BA, then MBA is an effective option to you as much as it is for the students of other streams.

Secondly, you might think that science and commerce students have an edge over you and jumping into MBA would be like getting into a very different world without any relation to your BA degree. But you might be wrong here. There are various specifications in MBA and even commerce and science students are exposed to new subjects and challenges.

Thirdly, MBA is open to students of all streams. MBA is all about management, administration and organisation and it embraces diversification.

Finally, MBA is a universal program having a wide variety of specializations within. If you really want to have a career in Business Administration then, there should be no problem in pursuing MBA after BA.

The extract is that a B.A. degree is chosen by aspirants who don't want to stick to one particular option, and an MBA over arts even broadens aspirants' scopes. MBA degree offers aspirants knowledge on business management at the corporate level. It also enhances aspirants' management skills to handle any organization. MBA also upskill graduates in areas such as financial resource management, business development, and employee management.MBA is beneficial for graduates who aspire to start their organizations. Some of the typical start-up ideas for art students include content marketing, language centres, graphic design, event management, and much more.

The MBA degree provides adequate freedom for arts graduates to venture into startups with sufficient knowledge. The coursework is designed to offer graduates experience in both basic business administration subjects and specialization subjects. It will help the graduates understand any organization's functioning and provide suitable solutions to management-level problems.

MBA after B.Tech

After pursuing a B.Tech degree, a candidate, still lacks the business management skills that are intrinsic to managerial and other high-level roles in an organization. This is where an MBA degree is of utmost benefit. A B.Tech – MBA combination is one of the most sought after combination in the industry. B.Tech graduates who possess an MBA degree have the requisite skills and knowledge to handle both the technical and managerial side of the business, which makes them an invaluable asset for a company.

The variety of subjects taught and introduced in an undergraduate course is quite narrow when compared to an MBA degree. Degrees obtained from most MBA colleges in India cover many core spectrums such as statistics, economics, HR, finance, IT, business, etc. Therefore it leads to candidates having a wider playing field and an expansion in horizons in either one of these. With the right exposure, one can expect excellent jobs in multiple sectors of businesses. From IT/ITES and BFSI to e-commerce and healthcare, professionals who have dual degrees (with one of them being an MBA degree), are readily hired by companies and organizations. This is why if you have a B.Tech degree and an MBA degree, your prospects of employment increase manifold. The best part – you can find job opportunities not only with the top national brands but also with some of the best and well-established international companies like Google, Facebook, Amazon, eBay, Airbnb, TCS, Cognizant, Accenture, Deloitte, and Oracle, to name a few.

Since an MBA program focuses mainly on the managerial aspects of business, during the course, students develop a host of soft skills, including team spirit, leadership skills, communication skills, presentation skills, organizational skills, and so much more. This contributes to the all-round development of the learners. As a result, there’s a noticeable change in their personalities as well. An MBA program helps students improve their confidence levels, thereby making them ready for the real-world. Development of soft skills to such a large extent does not occur in B.Tech.

The MBA experience altogether helps students to emerge from their comfort zones and get in touch with new experiences.

The bottom line is – whether you choose to pursue an MBA degree right after completing B.Tech or gain a few years of working experience before enrolling in an MBA program, you will reap immense benefits both ways. Because of this, the demand for MBA after B.Tech is continuously increasing.
